Central
Oregon Horse Journal (COHJ) is now
in its sixth year, has new rein holders. Tom and Cat Mauldin
purchased the COHJ from The Nugget Newspaper publisher
Kiki Dolson in January 2008. Longtime award-winning journalists
most recently from Cannon Beach, Oregon, the Mauldins are anxious
and capable of continuing the Central Oregon Horse Journal’s
mission of being the region’s indispensable source of
horse-related information, in the form of news and advertising.
And
while new to the Horse Journal, Tom and Cat are not
new to Sisters, nor to publishing. As previously noted, we have
extensive experience in newspaper publishing, and between us
we have dozens of state and national awards for writing, layout,
photography, news coverage, overall general excellence, editing,
and advertising/marketing. Having been a “mom and pop”
team for 20 years, we can do it all, successfully and efficiently.
We
have owned property in Sisters for a number of years and have
been full-time residents for almost 2 years. Tom is the varsity
softball coach at Sisters High School, and Cat serves the team
as official scorekeeper and unofficial team mom.
In
his younger days, Tom was the proud owner of a pair of Arabian
horses, and expects his most recent return to the equine world
to be just like riding a bicycle: you get the hang of it real
quick-like. We look forward to continuing the quality and value
readers and advertisers have come to expect from the Central
Oregon Horse Journal, and have new and exciting plans for
future editions.
COHJ
reaches from Madras to La Pine, Prineville to Sisters, and many
points beyond. Our primary goal continues to be to report local
horse-related news accurately, fairly, and in a manner that
respects, entertains and informs our readership.
We
know that each issue of COHJ is eagerly anticipated,
trusted, and depended upon as a vital source of information.
We
look forward to a long, successful and mutually beneficial relationship
with our readers and advertisers and invite you to contact us
at any time with story ideas, photograph opportunities, news
items ... or just a little feedback.
Happy Trails,
Tom and Cat Mauldin
